Absence of Safety Advice: As we all know, lifeguards are essential in assuring the wellbeing of the individual. Lifeguards secure the security of the member of the public by warning the public of future dangers, preventing drowning from materializing and rescuing victims if necessary. When individual swim in oceans that aren't guarded by lifeguards, they are exposing themselves to many possible hazards. An important part of lifeguarding is advising the pulic about possible hazards and dangers.

Lack of Supervision: Often, the public will probably overestimate their capability to swim and as result will feel that they are competent enough to swim without professional supervision. However it is a significant error in most circumstances. Without professional supervision to thoroughly watch over swimmers, the public is vulnerable of drowning.

It is the lifeguard’s responsibility to constantly work to reduce these factors that bring about drowning.

Since lifeguards are often the very first responders to medical emergencies at marine environments, it is beneficial that lifeguards are prepared with the education and supplies to produce an adequate response.

This medical education can comprise of full EMS training, or fundamental firstaid training, according on the lifeguarding setting that the lifeguard is assigned to.
